Carol Wachniak became a certified childbirth educator in 1980, and a professional doula with 44 years of expertise, she created the Doula Family Childbirth Educational program as a result of a growing needs of the community, to encourage, passionately inspire couples to, learn, grow, and become an informed consumer as well as skilled in the natural process of birth. Birth professionals, midwives, parents and advocates from around the country share a vision is to establish a response as we are called to be the Tender Guardians to ensure the significance of birth is not lost. Our 8-week Doula Family Childbirth Educational Program is designed to enrich your birth experience and provide a profound understanding of the birthing process and the choices available to you. - Introductions: This class will serve as a warm and welcoming space for participants to get to know each other, fostering a supportive community throughout the program. It will also provide an overview of what to expect during the course.
- Exercise and Movement: In this class, participants will learn the importance of staying active during pregnancy and explore safe and effective exercises. They will discover how movement can help alleviate discomfort, improve overall well-being, and prepare the body for labor and delivery.
- Pregnancy and Gestation Nutrition: This class will focus on the essential role of nutrition during pregnancy. Participants will gain knowledge about proper nourishment for both the mother and the growing baby, ensuring a healthy and balanced diet throughout the gestation period.
- Managing Common Discomforts: Participants will learn practical strategies to address common discomforts experienced during pregnancy. This class will provide valuable insights and techniques to alleviate discomfort, promoting a more comfortable and enjoyable pregnancy journey.
- Making Good Choices: This class will empower participants to make informed decisions throughout their pregnancy and childbirth journey. They will learn about various options available to them, enabling them to make choices aligned with their values and preferences.
- Partner Role: Dad's Home Court Advantage Providers This class will focus on the important role of partners during pregnancy, labor, and delivery. Participants will learn how partners can provide support, comfort, and advocacy, fostering a stronger bond and shared experience during this transformative time.
- Stages and Management of Labor and Delivery I: Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the different stages of labor and delivery. They will learn about the physical and emotional changes that occur during each stage, as well as effective coping mechanisms and pain management techniques.
- Stages and Management of Labor and Delivery II: Building upon the previous class, this session will delve deeper into the stages of labor and delivery. Participants will explore additional techniques, positions, and interventions that can support a positive birth experience.
- Risks and Benefits of Medical Procedures: This class will provide an unbiased overview of common medical procedures and interventions during childbirth. Participants will gain knowledge about the potential risks and benefits associated with these procedures, empowering them to make informed decisions.
- Conserving Energy in Normal Labor: Participants will learn strategies to conserve energy during labor, ensuring they have the stamina and endurance needed for the birthing process. This class will focus on relaxation techniques, breathing exercises, and optimal positioning.
- Managing Variations and Complications: This class will equip participants with knowledge and skills to manage variations and complications that may arise during labor and delivery. They will learn about potential challenges and explore strategies to navigate these situations with confidence.
- Postpartum Care: Participants will receive comprehensive guidance on postpartum care, including physical and emotional recovery, newborn care, and self-care practices. This class will provide a solid foundation for a smooth transition into the postpartum period.
- Review: This class will serve as a recap of the entire program, allowing participants to reflect on their learning journey and address any remaining questions or concerns. It will provide an opportunity to reinforce key concepts and ensure a comprehensive understanding of the material covered.
- Breastfeeding Information and Skills: Participants will receive valuable information and practical skills related to breastfeeding. They will learn about the benefits of breastfeeding, proper latch techniques, common challenges, and available support resources.
- Newborn Characteristics: In this class, participants will explore the unique characteristics and needs of newborns. They will learn about newborn care essentials, including feeding, diapering, soothing techniques, and creating a nurturing environment.
The group will have the option to decide whether to meet in person or receive the information as an online home study class, ensuring flexibility and convenience for all participants.
